SUBJECTS OF CULTURAL INTEREST - ITALIAN MEDIA AND SOCIETY
One of the most fascinating things about Italy is the Italian lifestyle. This course is a way of getting to know the society and analyse from a sociological standpoint the country’s mass media (including analyses of television, newspapers and periodicals, public relations firms, spokespersons, major events, advertising, etc.) in order to understand Italian public opinion and the way it works. This is a particularly interactive course.
SUBJECTS OF CULTURAL INTEREST - THE LANGUAGE OF HEALTH
Learn the scientific language used by doctors, nurses and health workers, focusing the course’s objectives on the students’ individual needs. Apart from studying specific vocabulary, students will, for example, find out about the Italian health system and the way it is structured, as well as learn how to communicate effectively with patients and in the context of the health service in general.
SUBJECTS OF CULTURAL INTEREST - BIBLIOGRAPHICAL AND ARCHIVAL RESEARCH
Italy’s archival and documentary patrimony is unbelievably immense. In Italy – and Verona is no exception – innumerable documents have been preserved that are fundamental to human knowledge and history. In the fields of the arts, music, science, geography, etc., every historical period, from antiquity to the present day, is abundantly documented. For those who carry out research in Italy, there are many difficulties to overcome:  navigating one’s way through the wealth of documents available, consulting catalogues, gaining access to archives and analysing the documents. The course helps give the student the necessary operational, linguistic and communicational tools. It may include providing references, visits and practical exercises in archives that are of interest, both in the area of Verona and in neighbouring cities.
