WHAT IS PLIDA?
PLIDA is an Italian Language Diploma issued by the Società Dante Alighieri. It is recognised in Italy by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, by the Ministry for Education and Research, by the Ministry for Labour and Social Policy and, since 2010, also by the Ministry for Internal Affairs, as well as by the Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE). The certificate is valid in many foreign countries, and may be very useful for inclusion in one’s CV (both educational and professional).

PLIDA certifies 6 levels of competence: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. Each level requires 2 tests for each skill: reading, listening, writing and speaking.
Evaluation
Evaluation is based on the degree of interlanguage that the student can reach at each level (general PLIDA levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2). Candidates will be judged according to the level for which they present themselves.
The utility of certification
Apart from the student’s private motivations and its usefulness for CV purposes, PLIDA certification has specific utilities according to the level.
Level A2 guarantees sufficient competence to express oneself and understand those one is conversing with. It is valid for obtaining a long-term residence permit and allows one to enrol in specialist training courses.
Level B2 certifies the ability to interact and carry out even quite complex conversations and activities. It allows access to higher education and to all Italian universities. It is also recognised by many academic institutions outside of Italy.
Level C2 is equivalent to the abilities of a native Italian speaker possessing an excellent linguistic and cultural education. In many countries, it is valid for teaching Italian as a foreign language.
The exams may be taken by anyone who wishes to do so. To do so, no specific preparation is required. For those who feel they need to carry out preparation for an exam, the school organises Italian language courses specifically geared towards certification, with simulated tests.

CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE
At the end of every language course, students can ask for certificate of attendance, which indicates the level of the course he or she has taken. For foreign students who require a detailed certificate that provides that a certain level has been attained, Idea Verona is prepared to discuss conditions under which an international exam may take place.
In accordance with the Guidelines for the future issued by the PLIDA Office of the Società Dante Alighieri, for courses that are organised according to the standards of the Società Dante Alighieri, the school's certificate may be issued as an AUDA (Attestato Unico Dante Alighieri).
